Hi just seen your post about your missing puss, I’m so sorry to hear your beautiful baby is missing. I saved this post as it has lots of helpful tips & gives ideas of types of sites you can look for and contact or help to find similar in your area. Make sure you speak to all animal rescue centres and keep in regular contact with them. When young puss cats go missing its because they are inquisitive & wander & don’t realise the dangers out there. So please make sure as many people as possible know that your baby is missing - it’s so very important to ask all neighbours to actually open & check inside all their sheds/garages/outbuildings and any empty properties being renovated - all too often cats manage to get locked inside. And when the weather is bad they take shelter & can’t get out. If you can be there when neighbours check, even better. So make sure as many people as possible in at least a 3 mile radius know to keep a look out. Checklist reads: Would recommend you: • Go out at quiet times of the day and night calling for your puss. This is the best time to hear any meows & if they are afraid they will probably only come out at night. • If puss escaped through a window or door, leave it open as much as possible (so long as it is safe to do so) as puss will likely try to get back in the way they got out. • Speak to all your neighbours, knock on doors in the surrounding roads/ streets again asking them to please OPEN all sheds, garages and outbuildings for a little while in case they are trapped inside & to give them a chance to escape. • Also check any nearby properties that are being refurbished/empty houses/allotments/cat hoarders/feeders. Are any neighbours on holiday.... ? Do also look at peoples windows, downstairs and upstairs, just in case they have been taken in as it does happen. • Emptying the contents of your Hoover in your garden, or putting puss bedding on the line, can also help as they may smell the familiar smells and young cats need a very strong scent to guide them home especially if they have been indoor cats. • Also put up posters and deliver leaflets, remember not everyone is on social media. Offer a reward on your leaflets/posters if you feel you want to but don't say how much • Maintain a high presence on social media feeds, keep sharing your puss’s picture, post anywhere & everywhere Use your puss cats photo as your profile picture. The links below may not be in your area but can be used to give ideas of the types of sites you can search for in your own area • Below are some suggested Facebook groups: https://www.facebook.com/CPBedfordLostFound/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/HarveysArmySouth/ https://www.facebook.com/StrayCatRescue https://www.facebook.com/homelesscatrescue/ • Search your garden and neighbours’ gardens regularly in case she is hiding under shrubs/hedges and inside and under sheds, they do this if they are injured. • Speak to ALL local vets, not just your own. Details of vets can be found here >>> http://www.cats.org.uk/bedford/vet-contact-details- • Notify local rescues such as Cats Protection and RSPCA. Your local Cats Protection can be contacted at lostandfound@bedford.cats.org.uk • Details of all other local rescues can be found here >> http://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-rescue-centres-bedfordshire • Also register her as missing on the following free websites: www.animalsearchuk.co.uk; www.nationalpetregister.org; www.petslocated.com and www.cataware.co.uk Further suggestions can be found on http://www.bedford.cats.org.uk/bedford/lost-and-fou o.uk; www.nationalpetregister.org; www.petslocated.com and www.cataware.co.uk Further suggestions can be found on http://www.bedford.cats.org.uk/bedford/lost-and-found Wishing you the very best of luck & hope your baby is home ASAP??
